Boakye Agyarko’s sack was orchestrated by some elements within the Npp -Kennedy Agyapong.

The maverick member of the governing New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong, has alleged that certain powerful elements in their party schemed to destroy to get former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko out of government of which they have succeeded.

Kennedy Agyapong who is a known critic of his own government on Asempa fm’s afternoon political program  ‘ Ekosiino sen’ hinted that, the said plot took place at Alisa hotel here in Accra but  refused to mention names of personalities involved in the said clandestine operation.

“NPP ministers went to meet journalists at Alisa hotel to destroy Boakye Agyarko. But I think he is okay, he doesn’t have a problem. When he was not a minister he survived. I think he is a good man but his era has ended. Let him move on,” he said on Ekosii sen on Asempa FM on Tuesday.

It will be recalled that  on Monday, August 6, 2018, the president sacked Mr Agyarko in relation to the new failed Ameri agreement sent to Parliament  which it was reported the president was misled.

The Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin, later clarified that Boakye Agyarko’s dismissal was due to his handling of the reviewed AMERI agreement.

“In a nutshell, it [the dismissal] is to do with the issue of the controversial AMERI deal. That is why the President has relieved the Minister for Energy of his position,” he said.

The new Ameri deal sought to grant new ownership to the 250 megawatts power plant to another company at the expense of Ghana in a transaction that appeared wired and lacked clarity. But Ghanaians stood against the move by citing administrative connivance and malfessance.

But per  Kennedy’s estimation Mr. Agyarko was pushed out of office because there was a lot of pressure on the president to throw him under the running bus.

“Whether you like it or not he [Agyarko] is a brilliant guy and you can’t take it away from him today or tomorrow. They don’t like good people. In Ghana, if you speak the truth like Boakye Agyarko people will not like you. There was a lot of pressure on the president,” he said.

The controversial member of parliament, Kennedy Agyapong had these as words of caution for his friend Mr Agyarko.“I don’t think he has to accept any post again. Why do you want people to ridicule you? Is that the only way he can serve?’
