AHOTOR FM & SINEL HOSPITAL Collaborate to offer free breast cancer screening exercise for its listerners

As part of numerous activities and awareness campaign programs by several healthcare facilities in the country, and worldwide to mark this year’s Breast Cancer awareness month, your family and host radio station ; ahotor FM has collaborated with SINEL hospital in Tema to offer a free consulting – breast cancer screening exercise for the ardent listeners of the station.

This monumental and novelty will further add to the avalanche of the company’s social responsibility of offering community based assistance, and humanitarian springboard cum non profit making programs for its cherished listeners and clienteles.

Dr. Michael McCarthy, a gynaecologist and his assistant who doubles as the client services and marketing partner; Ms. Josephine Aggrey, all of SINEL hospital appeared on the flagship Friday morning show on ahotor 92.3 Fm to educate and sensitize the public on the prevention and the early warning signs of breast cancer, as part of the month( October) long campaign roadshow initiative.

On his part the medical practitioner revealed that, it is imperative for both sexes whether male or female must make it a point to visit any family or nearby health facility to undergo screening and review of breast related ailments and predicaments, since the disease according to research and researchers have assumed an alarming rate amidst risk damming revelations or even at worst state death.

Dr. McCarthy again noted that, “Currently in Ghana, there are about 2002 recorded cases annually, and over 2 million recorded cases worldwide. Similarly, it has been revealed also that the previous annual record of 2002, have astronomically shot up by a whooping 4,560 due to the slippery mode of acquiring the disease, and added that the prevalence rate has become very high and dreadful amongst women, though men also stand the risk of contracting this excruciating ailment in recent periods.

The gynae trained medical practitioner cited and enumerated hereditary and certain lifestyle activities as being the most alarming and underpinning factors of contracting the disease, and cautioned that people should be wary of ways they consume fatty foods as well as other processed edibles.

He further told host of the program, Harry Larson popularly called ” Larso” on the ‘Obiaa nka bi’ show that, he is calling on persons ( women ) who have attained adulthood to initiate steps by prioritizing preventive measures and precautions against acquiring the ailment which seemed to be sending many women to their early graves, due to lack of routine check ups and the adamant of people to avail themselves for thorough healthcare screening programs relating to breast cancer awareness.

It is however expected that, on Friday the 19th of October 2018, the forecourt of ahotor 92.3 FM will be buzzing with loads of activities marking the free breast care screening exercise by Dr. Michael McCarthy and his team of avid health professionals from SINEL HOSPITAL in Tema community 10.

The organisers opines that, the program is due to be mammoth, as listeners of the station are expected to take opportunity and advantage to check their breast cancer status ; since prevention is the watch word.
