After 39 years, I can only wish you well- Anita De-soso to NDC as she joins OTIKO on leave

A former First National Vice-chairperson of the National Democratic  Congress (NDC) Madam Anita De-soso has announced her premature retirement from active politics after her humiliation with 300 votes by the delegates of the party over the weekend.

She joins her sister with whom she served as National Women’s Organizer at one time, former Gender Minister Otiko Afisah Djaba who also announced her retirement from active politics after a reshuffle threw her to Italy from her ministerial post.

Anita De-soso was speaking on Accra100.5FM’s Ghana Yensom hosted by Kwabena Prah Jnr on Monday.

“I thank all the people who voted for me, although it didn’t go as we expected,” she said of her walloping.

“I have done politics for 39 good years and I have never been on leave. I am taking a break, I am not quitting the party, I wish everybody in the party well.” she said.

She, however, clarified something very important, that she has not resigned or quit the NDC for good.

“I haven’t resigned from the party, I am only taking a break, I will be back.” she clarified.

Earlier, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker held brief for her over her Volta Region neglect comment. He revealed that the former First National Vice-chairperson of the party Anita De-soso, made her comments out of “election defeat heat”.

He said, it is common to hear one speak out words he/she was not meant to say when defeated in an election because it is not true that members of the party from the Volta Region did not win positions in the just ended elections.

“…when one loses an election, during the early hours of the defeat some high amount of pressure runs through the stomach, blows in the head, and straight to the mouth…”

He further explained that in most occasions persons who go through such experiences come out to apologize or retract the unfair comments made.

Anita De-soso’s comment came after she lost her contest on the National Organizer position over the weekend at Trade Fair Center. She lost to Joshua Akamba.
